On a special day for the rest of his family, Alfie was mascot for Charlton Athletic when they hosted Barnsley last month. Alfie had over 70 supporters in the crowd as he and his sister Ellie enjoyed a fantastic experience at The Valley.
The nomination was made by Sarah,a friend of Alfie’s mum, Mikilia. In May this year Alfie’s dad, Richard, sadly and unexpectedly passed away, he was a huge Charlton fan and shared his passion for the club with Alfie. They loved to play football together at any opportunity, watch matches on telly and collect stickers and Match Attack cards. One thing they never had the chance to do was go to a match together so Sarah contacted us, not only to give Alfie the opportunity to go The Valley, but to be mascot for the day.
Sadly we couldn’t make it to London as we were looking after another Kick at Watford the same afternoon so our friend Zoe, who lives locally to Charlton, went along to meet Alfie and the rest of the family. We know from experience at the club they would have all been brilliantly looked after and had an amazing day and even had the chance to meet Gemma Gibbons and hold her Olympic silver medal!
We received a note from Sarah with some of the pictures:
“Please give our huge thanks to the club, Sue Gallop and the players for making the whole day an unforgettable experience for Alfie. It has been incredible for him and he loved it all…moments he can treasure forever…his dad was there watching us for sure.”
We would also like to thank everybody at the club, Sarah for nominating Alfie and Zoe for going along to meet everybody for us.
