Our first Championship Kick at London Road this season was at the game between Peterborough United and Leeds United. Amber was our Posh mascot for the day after being nominated by our friends at Shine Charity, which supports families and individuals affected by spina bifida and hydrocephalus. Amber, from Swaffham in Norfolk, came along with her twin sister Georgia, mum Coral and dad Shane, who is a Leeds fan!
We met the family in reception at London Road where they were introduced to Simon and Gavin, who were the mascots hosts for the day. Amber then received her new Posh kit and was ready for the tour of the ground which started with a trip to the dressing room to meet the Posh players, including her favourite Joe Newell.
Despite needing her crutches Amber walked around the whole of the ground on the tour, although we were all tempted to sit down and have the carvery in the Noel Cantwell Suite. Then it was time for a kick about on the pitch with the other mascot which again, despite being tired, Amber took a full part in and even scored a goal at the London Road End. After that all the mascots went back down the tunnel ready to come out ahead of kick off.
After coming off the pitch Amber took her place in the stands with her family to watch the match. At least one person, Shane, was happy with the result as Leeds United ran out 2-1 winners!
We would like to thank Shine for nominating Amber and as ever all at Peterborough United for their help and support.
