Every year we hold a fundraising quiz at Peterborough United’s stadium and it was through attending one of these, that Posh fan and Community Nurse, Katrina, became familiar with the work we do. She got in touch with us last year to nominate Brandon, who was one of her young patients and who she loved discussing football with.
Brandon’s first love is Spurs, but Katrina had told him so much about the Posh, that he had shown a desire to go to a Posh game and support his local team. We were delighted to be able to help, so arranged for him to be a team mascot at the FA Cup game against Luton Town.
On the day he came along with his dad, Gary, and enjoyed meeting the team, especially his favourite player, Ben Alnwick, as well as Posh legend Craig Mackail-Smith. Due to Peterborough’s links with Luton Town, there was a large crowd and exciting atmosphere in the ground so, when Brandon led the teams out onto the pitch, they were met by deafening cheers from the fans. After taking part in the pre-match handshakes, Brandon rejoined his family and settled back to watch the Posh win 2-0 and sail through to the next round of the cup.
Many thanks go to Katrina Allen and all at Peterborough United.
