Our first Kicks of the 2016/17 season saw us working with a new group; a lively bunch of lads from football team, Bretton North End FC.
The group was set up by coach and referee, Stuart Cave, who wanted to engage with local football-mad children and provide coaching free of charge to the families. Over the time the project has grown and Stuart now has almost 60 participants, all able to enjoy a game on Saturdays. When we read their story we wanted to provide an additional treat for them, so invited a group to join us for a hospitality package at the pre-season friendly between Peterborough United and Barnsley.
Eight of the Under 12/13 team came along and spent the afternoon at the club, enjoying a three course meal, a tour of the ground and the chance to meet some of the players in the dressing room. Shortly before the game Posh manager, Grant McCann came up to the executive suite where the boys fired questions at him, something they all really enjoyed.
As Free Kicks had sponsored the game the boys were also invited onto the pitch just ahead of kickoff, to take part in a photo opportunity with the team captains and officials. Finally, after the game they all waited behind in order to present the Man of the Match award to the player they had chosen, which was Paul Taylor.
We’d like to thank all at the Posh for getting our new season of Kicks off to a flying start, especially Tony Broughton, Alex Harris and Grant McCann.
