Our first kick of 2012 saw us back at London Road for Peterborough United’s home game with Birmingham City. The mascot was 8 year old Callum who lives within sight of the stadium in Fletton. He was nominated by Zoe Wilkinson from the Amazon ward at Peterborough City Hospital for being brave after a recent operation.
The day started with Callum being given his kit and then being taken on a tour of the stadium with his mum Yvonne, dad Daryl, brother Kai and friend Fletcher. He went into the dressing rooms and met some of the Peterborough United players before being taken onto the pitch and given a training session with the other mascots.
His favourite player, Lee Tomlin, was absent from the dressing room due to injury but Callum was lucky enough to meet him just as he was about to take part in the warm up with the other mascots. Callum then went on to score a goal at the London Road End, before walking out onto the pitch with Paul Taylor. He then took his seat with the rest of his family to watch the exciting 1-1 draw.
We would like to thank all at Peterborough United for their assistance and hospitality.
