Fairplay is an amazing organisation based in Chesterfield, they support children and young people with disabilities and additional needs, and their families, across North Derbyshire. We teamed up with them last year in order to provide mascot package to many of the families they work with and the first of this season’s were arranged for the recent match against Peterborough United.
David and Jack were the chosen recipients and, although there was a couple of years difference in their ages, they are great friends. They met through Cubs and were delighted to be chosen to mascots together.
We met them and their families on the day, before the game, in Chester’s Den Playcentre. They were greeted by members of the Community Trust and handed their Chesterfield FC football kits to change into, before heading off to meet the players in the dressing room. The boys collected autographs and had their pictures taken with the team, before returning to the Den to play in the soft playroom.
We saw Jack and David again later when we spotted them on the pitch practicing their ball skills, ahead of the time they walked out with the teams for kickoff.
We’d like to thank Tony Duly from Fairplay for nominating the boys, and all at Chesterfield FC for their kind hospitality.
