On Saturday 10th December we had our first kick at Leicester City, 5 year old George from Oadby was our mascot for the day at the Championship local derby with Peterborough United. George was nominated by LOROS (Leicestershire and Rutland Organisation for the Relief of Suffering) and came along with mum Karen, dad Stuart and cousin Bradley.
We met George and his family at the Media Entrance of the King Power Stadium where he was ready for the big day wearing his new kit with his name on the back. We went inside the ground where he met the other home mascots and his host for the day. The whole family went off for a tour of the ground and visited the home dressing room where George met the Leicester City players before going out on the pitch for a training session with Filbert Fox, Leicester’s mascot. He walked out of the tunnel just before 3 o’clock with Leicester City captain Richie Wellens, when he shook hands with the Peterborough United players and was involved in a picture with the match officials, sponsors, other mascots and the two team captains. George then took his VIP seat as Peterborough United fought back to gain a 1-1 draw with the Foxes.
Thank you to all at Leicester City for their hospitality on the day and their help in setting up the Underwood’s special day.
