Our second visit to Hillsborough also saw us linking up with Happy Days for the second time. Happy Days are a national children’s charity dedicated to providing holidays, residential trips, days out and theatre trips for disadvantaged young people with special needs.
The charity nominated George, a huge Wednesdayite, to be VIP mascot for the game with Peterborough United. We met up with George, mum Zoe and his Nan in the plush Sheridan Suite at the ground, where they were waiting to be served their meal. One of the hosts in the restaurant kindly took us to the home team dressing room where George had his picture taken with the shirt of his favourite player, Michail Antonio. After that it was time to leave the family in peace for their slap up meal and a chance to go back into the dressing room to meet the players on the tour of the ground. George had a kickabout on the pitch with the other mascots before heading back down the tunnel, ready to come out just before kick off with his hero Antonio.
We would like to thank Ryan Sinclair at Happy Days for nominating George and all at Sheffield Wednesday for their hospitality.
