Our latest Kick at London Road was a little bit different in that, rather than a Peterborough United mascot, we arranged for Ipswich Town fan, Jake, to lead his team out when they visited. Jake was nominated by our friends from Anna’s Hope and made the journey with dad, David, mum Donna and sister Sophie.
With help from Ipswich Town we arranged match tickets and a new away kit for Jake and he was already changed when we arrived at the ground to meet them all. As usual we started with a tour of the ground and Jake had the privilege of meeting the Peterborough United players and getting them to sign his programme, which I am sure will become a treasured possession, before visiting the referee’s room and walking around the ground to the family stand to see the executive boxes.
By this time the Ipswich Town team arrived, including our ambassador Aaron Mclean. Aaron arranged for his team mates to sign an Ipswich Town ball that had been donated by Gavin Slater which we gave to Jake. Manager Mick McCarthy kindly agreed that Jake and his family could go into the dressing room for pictures and autographs.
Jake then had a kick about on the pitch with the rest of the mascots, before heading down the tunnel ready to come out with the teams and then taking his seat in the away end to watch as the team’s battled out the first 0-0 at London Road for over 4 years!
We would like to thank everybody at Peterborough United and Ipswich Town for their help making Jake’s day so brilliant and Carole and Rob at Anna’s Hope for nominating Jake for his Kick.
