We were honoured to be named as nominated charity for Non League Day 2012 and, as part of the day which encourages fans of Premier League and Championship clubs to go along to a local non league game, we decided to arrange kicks at non-league games around the country. As well as in the Conference, where we had Kicks at Hereford United and Luton Town (reports and pictures to follow), we decided to go a bit further down the pyramid and visited Rugby Town for the visit of unbeaten Guildford City.
Josh was our mascot for the day after being nominated by Annette at Rugby Young Carers and came along with mum Sharon and brother Aaron. We met Josh and his family outside the ground before being welcomed into the ground by club officials, including Tom Cringian who helped us arrange the day, as well as organising a bucket collection for us!
Josh was taken off to get into his new Rugby Town kit and then went to join in with the players as they warmed up ahead of the game. He then went back into the tunnel to get ready to lead the team out with captain Robbie Banks and even carried the match ball out on to the pitch.
We then took our front row seats which had been reserved for us in the stand and watched as the home team hammered their visitors 6-1!
We would like to thank all at Rugby Town for their fantastic hospitality, especially Tom for his help in organising the day and Rugby Young Carers for nominating Josh for the experience! We look forward to returning in the future.
