Our latest London Road Kick was for Peterborough United’s home game with high flying Leicester City and 15 year old Joshua was our mascot for the day. We met Joshua at Heltwate Special School when we went along to their Christmas party last year with Peter Burrow and Posh player Lee Tomlin. His enthusiasm and excitement for everything Posh shone through and we decided there and then that he deserved the chance to be mascot.
Joshua came along with mum Donna and her partner Chris and was already in his Posh kit and excitedly watching down from the David Seaman Suite as the players arrived. Gavin was the club mascot co-ordinater for the day and he introduced himself to Joshua and the other mascots. He explained what would happen for the rest of the day before we all headed straight for the dressing rooms, where Joshua wasn’t shy in introducing himself to the players and posed for pictures with as many of them as he could grab. After the rest of the ground tour, including executive boxes and boardroom, there was a short time to warm up before Joshua went out on to the pitch for a training session with Gavin and the chance to score at The London Road End.
Then it was back down the tunnel, before re-emerging accompanied by George Boyd, on what would prove to be his last appearance at London Road as a Posh player. Joshua then took his seat with his family as the home team pulled off a shock 2-1 victory.
As always thank you to all at Peterborough United for their hospitality.
