17 year old Luke is one of our oldest mascots this season; he was nominated by Hope House Hospice in Oswestry to take up a place at the Shrewsbury Town fixture against Peterborough United.
We met Luke on the day along with his dad Paul, and his sister Niamh; they had already visited the club during the week to collect his new Shrewsbury Town kit. After waiting for the other mascots to arrive, they were all allowed into the dressing room in order to take photos and get the players’ autographs, while we waited outside.
Next up was the kickabout on the pitch but, as it was pouring with rain, Luke was content instead to stay in the tunnel and watch the busy matchday activity unfold around him. As a wheelchair user, playing wheelchair football is one of his hobbies and is hoping to play for his country one day soon.
Later Luke and his family took their seats with a stunning view on the top level of the Salop Leisure South Stand, complete with waiter-service drinks, to watch the game. Our thanks go to Hope House Hospiceand all at Shrewsbury Town FC.
