Another new partnership for us this season is with the Medway Young Carers organisation, and we arranged for three of their youngsters to be mascots at Gillingham FC, at the fixture against the Posh on September 16th.
Mollie, Craig and Ryan came to the ground with a group of six other Young Carers and three staff, and were looked after really well (as usual!) by the football club. Everybody was taken round on the tour and to meet the players, before the mascots took to the pitch to take part in the warm-up session and then walking out onto the pitch to take part in the Fairplay handshake.
Young Carers are individuals that we admire so much, whichever part of the country they come from. To give this group of youngsters some additional support, we have arranged for them to pick up a couple of season tickets which will enable one Carer and guardian per fixture to go along and watch the match. This is a scheme we have running in several locations around the country…it’s relatively easy to organise but provides a much-needed break to these amazing individuals.
As always, thanks go to Val at the club and Holly from the Young Carers organisation.
