Morgan and Jonjo’s Kicks – Peterborough United v Hartlepool United

On Saturday 22nd January it was our great honour to sponsor a Football League game at London Road for the first time. Our guests at the League 1 match between Peterborough United and Hartlepool United were Morgan and Jonjo.

Morgan, who came along with his mum, grandad and brother as well as two of his mates, was nominated to us for a treat by the staff at the children’s ward at Peterborough City Hospital.

Jonjo, who is 9, was selected for his day out as a result of something remarkable he is doing in February. He is walking from Wembley Stadium to West Ham United to raise money for the Bobby Moore Fund in memory of his Nanny who sadly passed away from bowel cancer. We heard about this remarkable young man’s efforts on Twitter and thought he deserved a day out as a reward.  He was joined by his mum and sister on his first visit to London Road.

We started our day with a tour of the ground with the first stop off being the dressing room. Here the lads got to meet the Posh players for photos and autographs… including Free Kicks ambassadors Joe Lewis, George Boyd and Charlie Lee. The tour continued with a walk around the pitch, before taking in the Executive Suite and the Boardroom.

Afterwards we all sat down to a fantastic meal in the Sponsors Lounge before walking out on to the pitch for pictures with the captains and match officials. We then took our seats in the Main Stand to watch Posh’s fine 4-0 win over the visitors.

To end their day Morgan and Jonjo had the important task of choosing the Man of the Match which they deservedly gave to Charlie Lee. Charlie came to the lounge to be presented with his bottle of champagne after the game and was joined by Grant McCann, Joe Lewis and Craig Mackail-Smith who happily signed even more souvenirs for the boys.

All in all we had a fantastic day and we were brilliantly looked after by everybody at the club. In particular we would like to thank Alex Harris and his team for their fantastic hospitality.
