We have worked for several years now with Swindon Downs Centre Group and, in particular, an amazing lady, Jo Messenger. She is a Trustee for the group and works tirelessly supporting them. She nominates the children and young people to us, so that we can arrange for them to have a memorable day out at Swindon Town FC, as team mascots.
When Jo mentioned her son, Oliver, in passing one day, we decided that it was about time that Jo was on the receiving end for a change! As he was a little too old to be a mascot, we organised a special birthday package for him, at the game against Scunthorpe United.
On the day Oliver, plus his mum and dad, were treated to a four course meal, a tour of the stadium and dressing room, plus a huge birthday cake, especially made for him and presented to him by Raphael Branco and Adam El-Abd. This was followed by the family taking their comfortable executive seats, ready to watch Swindon run out 2-1 winners over Scunthorpe.
After the game, Jo said “Thank you so so much for organising Saturday for Oliver. He had an amazing time and loved every minute of the day. With added bonus of winning as well!!
He is a really happy young man that hasn’t stopped talking about his day.
What you do for these young people is fantastic. As I said before it has really been a difficult time over the last couple of weeks and it was good to have something positive in his life to talk about.
Thanks again for a wonderful day”.
Our thanks go to all at Swindon Town FC, especially Rachel Burt, for helping to deliver this amazing day for Oliver.
