We were privileged to be match sponsors for Peterborough United’s League Cup tie, at home to Reading.
For the second time this season we celebrated by taking along eight youngsters from Peterborough Young Carers, Remiala, Emily, Imogen, Kester, Ryan, Harry, Joshua and Moahammed-Saif, for an evening of fine food and hospitality. We were to be based in the Sponsors Lounge at London Road, where our host was Posh legend, Noel Luke. The evening started with a trip to the dressing room where we met the players and posed for pictures and got autographs. We were shown the away dressing room and the referee’s room, before heading down the tunnel to pitchside and first view of the lush pitch. Next we walked around the pitch to the family stand, executive boxes, Noel Cantwell Suite and on to the boardroom, to see the trophy cabinet.
By this time we were all hungry and headed back to the suite for our slap up carvery meal. Just after we had finished it was time for the eight youngsters and their leaders, Dani and James, from the Young Carers organisation to head down on to the pitch to line up with the captains, match officials and of course Peter Burrow.
They all returned to their seats shortly into the half, in which the Posh led by 3-0! At half time there was more food, this time cake, which we were all happy to help consume. The second half followed a similar pattern and three more goals for Peterborough sealed the tie. Lee Tomlin, who scored a hat trick, was voted man of the match and came up to the lounge to pose for pictures and receive his bottle of champagne.
Once again it was a brilliant evening, thanks go to the Posh hospitality team for looking after us so well and Dani and James for bringing the youngsters along.
