We had a really busy day at the game against Doncaster Rovers, with a total of four home mascots…two sets of brothers.
Ben and Thomas were nominated to us by Sue Ryder Bereavement Support and came along with mum, Joanne, and more of their family. In addition, we invited Seb and his brother, another Ben, after we met them in 2015. We were involved in a football match, organised to help raise funds for Seb, after he suffered a life-changing accident the previous year.
Both sets of boys have experienced a difficult time recently, so we wanted to give them all an exciting day to enjoy together with their families. We arranged for them to be team mascots at the Posh game against Doncaster Rovers, in late October. All four received brand new Peterborough United kits and had the opportunity to meet the team in the dressing room, for pictures and autographs. Following this, they all took part in a coaching session on the pitch, before leading the team out with their favourite players.
The lads then sat back to enjoy a magnificent 4-0 victory for the Posh, in a game which saw Darren Ferguson return to London Road, as Doncaster Rovers manager.
Thanks, as always, to Simon Morby and all at the football club, as well as Jo Ruff, from Sue Ryder Care.
