Free Kicks helps Young People in South Wales attend Cardiff City

For the past 6 seasons Free Kicks have provided Cardiff City season tickets to the 16+ team at Torfaen County Borough Council in South Wales. After this year’s successful season for The Bluebirds we received a wonderful email from Stephen Morgan, Young Person’s Advisor at TYPSS.

We have also renewed the season tickets for 2018-19 season, when Cardiff City are back in the Premier League.

Can I start by saying a massive thank you again for access to the Cardiff City Season tickets for what’s been an absolutely amazing season for the club and fans.

The season has seen the tickets utilised on a near 95% attendance record (we struggle with midweek fixtures with the clients due to education and travel difficulties).  We have been able to facilitate young people aged between 14 and 20 to attend the matches with the last match in the season being quite a special occasion where one of our senior social workers, Richard, was able to purchase an extra two tickets and  he supported three young unaccompanied asylum seekers to watch Cardiff gain promotion after a 4 year absence.

The experience has a massive impact on the young people with many experiencing professional sport for the first time, they are also able to have positive experiences with parents and carers alike. The tickets are often offered as a reward for academic achievement (attendance and attainment), continued engagement in support plans and also meeting the requests of individuals who otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford to attend.

Thank you and your organisation very much for the fantastic support in the last 6 six years it’s been very positive for the young people in Torfaen.

Free Kicks Day – Players, Management and Staff to donate % of wages.

An amazing gesture, we are beyond grateful to everybody at Peterborough United for their incredible support.

Ahead of Monday’s Free Kicks Day at the ABAX Stadium, the football club have announced they will be making a donation to the charity.

The Peterborough United first team squad, management and club staff will donate a percentage of their weekly wage to the club’s chosen charity, the Free Kicks Foundation ahead of the New Year’s Day fixture with Doncaster Rovers, a game that has been designated as ‘Free Kicks Day’.

The players made the decision to make the donation earlier this week and club captain Jack Baldwin, who is also an ambassador of the charity, said: “When I first arrived at Peterborough, I found out about the wonderful work that the Free Kicks Foundation do for youngsters and I am honoured to be one of their ambassadors.

“The supporters have donated to the charity and we felt that it was important that we did too, so as a squad we are happy to donate a percentage of our weekly wage to help make more dreams come true for kids at football. We will be proud to be wearing a special shirt with their name across our chests on Monday and thank them for the amazing work that they continue to do.”

A club spokesman said: “Alongside the players, the club’s management team and behind the scenes staff have agreed to make a donation to the Free Kicks Foundation. We have all seen what wonderful work that they do.”

Steve Thorpe from the Free Kicks Foundation said: “We would like to thank the players, management and staff of Peterborough United for their incredible generosity, this is a wonderful gesture and shows the commitment the whole football club has to Free Kicks during this season. We truly appreciate this donation which will enable us to arrange so many more days out for local disadvantaged children.”

The game with Doncaster will see the players wear a special shirt featuring the Free Kicks Foundation logo and all shirts will be auctioned off afterwards to raise money for the charity, with details available later in the week.

The football club are proud to be working alongside the Free Kicks Foundation. You can donate to the foundation at

Day 12 – Happy Christmas Everybody and launch of 7,000 for £2k

It’s Christmas Eve! The final day of our 12 days of Free Kicks countdown.

So here’s a festive reminder of what we’re up to:

The Doncaster game on New Year’s Day has been designated Free Kicks Day and we are honoured that the players will be wearing our name on the front of the match day shirts. We will then auction these shirts in the New Year.

Pre-match they will also be wearing warm up shirts with our logo on; again these will be available early next year.

The raffle is still ongoing and tickets will be available up to 7th January, or until we sell out. The first prize is a brilliant day out at The Mick George Training Academy.

We are still looking for volunteers to take part in the half time ‘Chip in the Skip’ competition, with Mick George Ltd pledging to donate £20 for every successful attempt.

Finally we are today launching an attempt to bring in a crowd of over 7,000 for Free Kicks Day. At the start of the season Darragh MacAnthony pledged to donate £2,000 everytime The Posh get a home league attendance over that figure.

We would love as many Posh and Doncaster fans to come along on January 1st to help us raise even more funds on Free Kicks Day!

Here’s a message from Posh captain and Free Kicks ambassador, Jack Baldwin.

All there is for us to do now is to thank all of you for the support we have received during 2017 and to wish you all a very Merry Christmas.

Day 11 – West End star to read out the teams on Free Kicks Day #12daysofFreeKicks

It’s day 11 of our countdown, only two more announcements and then it’s Christmas! Today we’re delighted to announce that we have managed to persuade a West End star to read out the teams on New Year’s Day.

You may remember Dan from when he was mascot at the Bradford game earlier in the season, where he received one of the biggest cheers of the season when he scored a goal at the London Road End. Well since his day of stardom at the Abax, he has gone on to even bigger and better things. During the last week it was announced live on the BBC One Show that he would be appearing in the starring role of The Christmasaurus at the Hammersmith Apollo over the Christmas period.

We are delighted to welcome Dan back on Free Kicks Day, where he will have the important job of reading out the teams from pitchside ahead of the match, alongside matchday announcer David Fuller.
