Apologies for lack of updates over the weekend, unfortunately technology beat us in the end, and I couldn’t update the website as we went round the country.
I am pleased to announce that both teams completed the challenge with hours to spare. The Red team (Andy Mills, David Wool, Damon Williams and Chris Slade) travelling clockwise around the country, arrived back at London Road, Peterborough at 9pm, 87 hours after starting out from Colchester United. And the Blue team (Sam Downing, Jack Thorpe, Mark Dowling and Steve Thorpe) who travelled anti-clockwise, got back at 11.30pm Sunday evening.
By all accounts everybody had a brilliant if tiring time, and so far the total raised has reached over £3,500, which is a fantastic amount of money.
The Blue team were even lucky enough to meet Sir Geoff Hurst on the way round! England’s World Cup winning hat trick hero from 1966, was at Chester City in his role as Director of Football for Mcdonalds. They also arrived at Bristol Rovers just before kick off for the Peterborough United game and were taken pitchside and had pictures taken with Aaron Mclean and Charlie Lee.
More pictures from Blue team here, hopefully have some Red team ones up here soon!
Some pictures from the Red team added as well.
Thank you to everybody who has supported us and came to see us en route.
