On Thursday 30th July, Steve and his family attended a special launch night for ‘Boyd, Sweat and Beers’. The book is an account of the 2008-09 season as viewed by Posh fans. the night was also attended by Posh chairman Darragh MacAnthony and player of the season Charlie Lee.
More than 60 matches are covered, each by a different supporter in his/her unique style. From an apparently secret pre-season friendly at the oldest club in Wales, Cefn Druids (“I was the only Posh fan there which was a shame”) to the day promotion from League One was achieved at Colchester (“It had been 17 years since I last felt like this”), it’s all covered in loving prose.
All proceeds from the book are being split between Free Kicks, Sue Ryder Care and The Smile Tickets Fund.
We picked up a cheque for £400 on the night, and would like to thank all who contributed, but especially Paul Donnelly and Paul Mitchell.
