After the success of the last two year’s World Record breaking 5 a side games, which raised nearly £5,000 between them, the two teams decided on a shorter game for this year’s challenge!
The teams of Reading and Peterborough United fans battled it out for 42 consecutive hours in 2011 and then 52 the following year. This time the decider, as Reading won the first year and Posh the second, was an 11 a side game over ninety minutes played at The Hive, training ground of Barnet FC. We even had a celebrity guest, as Mrs Beckham was in attendance when we arrived at the ground; she was there watching son Brooklyn playing for a QPR youth team against Barnet.
The majority of the players from the two challenge games were in attendance as the game ended in a 7-4 win for the Posh fans. We were also delighted to have our ambassador Charlie Lee turn out for the Posh fans, in the end the difference between the two teams, with a hat trick.
It was fantastic to see everybody again and hopefully we can make this an annual event, although nobody seemed too keen on trying to break the 52 hour record!
Huge thanks to Victor Schooling for getting this game off the ground once again!
