Peterborough United fans can relive some of the most memorable moments in the club’s history at a special celebration this spring.
“A Very Posh Evening” will take place on Thursday, May 7, at the Holiday Inn – Peterborough, bringing together players and staff from the club’s promotion-winning seasons in 1992, 2000 and 2011 for a night of stories, humour and nostalgia.
Supporters will have the chance to hear first-hand memories from the dressing room, behind-the-scenes insights from key moments, and reflections on the campaigns that secured promotion and created lasting memories.
Players confirmed to attend so far include George Boyd, who helped the Posh to promotion at Old Trafford in 2011, and Wembley winners Mark Tyler and Marcus Ebdon, who were vital players in the squads of 2000 and 1992 respectively.
More names will be announced in the coming weeks.
The evening will not only celebrate past success, but also raise money for two important causes.
All profits from the event will go to the Free Kicks Foundation and The Tommy Robson Statue Fund, both of which have strong connections to the Peterborough United football community.
Tickets are priced at £65 per person and include a two-course meal.
A limited number of VIP tickets are also available for £75, offering a meet-and-greet with the players on the night.
The event promises to be a relaxed and entertaining night, giving supporters the opportunity to reconnect with some of the personalities who helped deliver promotion success while supporting two worthwhile charities.
Steve Thorpe, co-founder of the Free Kicks Foundation, said:
“We’re incredibly excited about A Very Posh Evening.
“It promises to be a brilliant night celebrating some fantastic memories, while also helping to raise money to allow us the opportunity to provide more football-related activities for ill, bereaved and disadvantaged children.
“Events like this show the power football has to bring people together, and we’re really grateful to everyone who has helped put the evening together.”
Adi Mowles, from the Tommy Robson Statue Committee, added:
“It’ll be a great evening to spend with fellow Posh, full of laughs and shared memories.”
“This project has taken a very long time for a variety of reasons but this evening should be one last opportunity to get Tommy home. London Road was where he shone on the pitch as well as, for even longer as an ambassador. Some would say this is the last dive.”
“There aren’t many opportunities to hear those promotion stories first-hand and share a room with some of the players who made them happen.”
“We’d encourage fans to book their tickets, come along with friends and enjoy a great night while supporting two fantastic causes.”
