In 2024, when Peterborough United reached the Final of the EFL Trophy, we had the idea of holding a joint fundraiser with the football club. We wanted to be able to offer match tickets and travel to supporters who may otherwise be unable to attend, for whatever reason. Posh fans were incredibly generous and on the day we were able to invite over 100 people to join in supporting the team at Wembley Stadium, where they saw their team succeed in lifting the trophy.
One year later and Peterborough once again made it through to the Final of the same competition, this time playing against Birmingham City. What better way to celebrate this than to revisit the fundraiser and offer tickets once again, to more amazing families?
Again, thanks to the generous donations from Posh supporters, we launched the scheme and invited people to nominate those who they thought would love a day out at Wembley. On Sunday 13th April 2025, we were able to provide tickets to 70 supporters, and coach travel for those than requested it. Everyone had a great day, made even better by the Posh pulling off an unexpected (to most) 2-0 victory and being the first team to retain the Cup in the competition.
Our thanks must go to Chris Brewer and Clive Edwards from Peterborough United FC, for their help and support with the project and ensuring everything ran smoothly in advance and on the day. They helped to create an amazing, memorable day for 20 families, who were able to watch their team make history.
