A new scheme that we have recently started is to provide match tickets for football matches being held at Wembley Stadium via the Club Wembley membership. This will enable us to offer experiences of watching all England games as well as cup finals and semi-finals.
During 2019 we have teamed up with the Clic Sargent team who are based at Great Ormond Street in London in order to provide days out for children and young adults who are receiving treatments there and at two other London hospitals. Following a productive meeting with them in the summer we thought that it would be ideal to link the two together, enabling some of their patients to have a brief respite from their current situation by going along to the stadium and watching world class players in action.
One of the first to receive this experience was 12 year old Brandon who was nominated to us by the GOSH team. Not only was he able to watch the England match against Montenegro in November 2019, but we also arranged for him to go on a pitch side tour, so that he was really close to the action.
The day after the game Brandon’s mum Dominique said “Brandon had an absolutely fantastic time last night. For a child with few words, he has not shut up this morning haha! We have already watched the highlights and the full game again this morning so that he can explain each part to me. Thank you again for allowing Brandon to go, he has not stopped smiling”.
Feedback like this makes everything we do so worthwhile, as is knowing that the experience has had such a positive effect on Brandon as well as his family.
