When Charlie was chosen to be a mascot for Swindon Town we were so excited for him, as he has attended nearly every home game since he was 5 years old and at 17 that’s a lot of home games. We couldn’t tell him until the day as he would be too excited to sleep or focus on anything else, but when we did he was so happy that he was going to meet Michael Doughty and other players. What made the day extra special was the FreeKicks foundation had included us and his siblings to be part of his special day. We were treated to a lovely lunch and shown around the County Ground where we had lots of photo opportunities. We went behind the scenes and saw the Chairmans lounge, players changing rooms and was presented with his own kit. After he changed into his kit he went pitch side and sat in the players chairs, he was so excited as he then lead the team onto the pitch to a roaring home crowd and did a warm up with the Captain. Once we were taken to our seats, Charlie studied the program, who was playing, who was the feature player and looked at the articles as he does every match. The game was a roller coaster for STFC and for Charlie, he gets so passionate. At half time we were given drinks to warm up and then back to the game, which unfortunately was not a result we wanted but that feeling was soon replaced as after the game Charlie met Michael Doughty and Olly Lancashire, he was presented with a Mascot award which is now hanging, with pride in his room. Charlie had an amazing day and so did we watching him, even now when watching Town play he recalls his day and when he met his best mates Michael and Olly.
